Welcome to the education page. Woodturning is an excellent hobby, and second-to-none for a meaningful, focused distraction from the stress of everyday life. Woodturners are a friendly group, and one of the best ways to learn is to join a local group sponsored by the AAW (American Association of Woodturning).
On this page are a few basic tutorials for beginning woodturning projects, including a honey dipper, acorn ornament, and a Christmas light ornament that I put together for demonstrations to high school students. As spindle turning projects (where the workpiece is held between centers on the lathe), these projects are good ways to safely practice using a range of woodworking tools.
